The Startup Product movement [for product excellence] of technology entrepreneurs, software and hardware makers comes to Asheville Wednesday with a free launch party!
Startup Product Asheville’s premier event will be held 5-8 p.m. at the Asheville Music Hall, 31 Patton Ave.
Asheville joins a select group of cities where the movement has spread from the Silicon Valley. Based in San Francisco, blogger Cindy [F.] Solomon has spearheaded the evolution of product managers among technology companies and start-ups creating new consumer products such as mobile apps or smart devices like the Nest thermostat recently bought by Google.
“Where companies used to have project managers, now they’re moving toward product managers,” said Ty Hallock of Top Floor Studios.
Hallock is co-organizing the event with Adrienne Clark. Seven groups are collaborating for the evening: DoNation, Asehville Creative League, Asheville Non-Profit Unconference, Asheville Makers, Asheville Music Hall, LoLo, Trusted Sharing, Creative Collection Asheville and Mojo Kitchen & Lounge.
Speakers for the evening are:
• Robin Cape, executive director of The Collider
• Bradley Waldrop, organizer of Lean Startups
• Kevin Jones, founder of SoCap, a platform to direct capital to social entrepreneurs.
• David Miller, owner of Imaginari Studios
• Craig McAnsh, founder of Mojo Coworking
